    Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital (formerly Saint Thomas West) in Nashville, Tennessee, is a full-service hospital with 24/7 emergency care. We deliver care for life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Our care teams listen to quickly understand your health needs and deliver care that's right for you. Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital is a destination for specialty care—including heart and vascular care, orthopedics, cancer care, stroke care and breast health. We offer a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, imaging, lab tests and rehabilitation services, all on one campus.

    In this position, you will work directly in the hospital, supporting our nurses, techs and physicians. You will be expected to assist with recording medical history, taking vitals, phlebotomy, giving injections/medication and more! We all partner together to deliver the best bedside care and offer a healthy work environment to all who join our team.

    PATIENTS WE SERVE: Our patient population is a large variety of diagnosed patients with multiple comorbidities: We care for complex medicine patients, that typically have complicated multi-disease process histories and need multi skilled LPN/nursing care. Often a patient will need a LPN/nurse to be proficient in several skill sets including but not limited to NG tube insertion, IV medication administration, tube feeds, phlebotomy, catheter placement, drain maintenance, wound care, occasional tracheostomy care, and or occasional chest tube care. Daily operations and bed flow are organized and lead with a charge nurse on each shift. Unit leadership is a multisupport system of a unit director, manager, and multiple clinical supervisors.

Responsibilities

Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.

  • Contribute to the assessment of patients and assures the well-being of patients.
  • Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
  • Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
  • Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.
