Licensed Practical Nurse AM/Day
AGS is actively seeking LPN to support for healthcare department. The opportunity is a term contract, if you feel you meet the criteria we invite you to apply.
* General nursing care to inmate patients in a Correctional Facility. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques to promote the physical and mental health of the inmate population.
* Performs nursing services, such as obtaining vital signs, wound care, IV therapy, collecting blood, urine, sputum and stool specimens, respond to emergencies in the Facility, and gathering other subjective and objective data from patients to insure needs are met in accordance with clinical guidelines, as well as duties imposed by the State and Federal laws and regulations and OCCD administrative procedures.
* Accurately document all data obtained, treatments, specimens collected and sent for processing as well as any other patient encounter. Administer all medications and recording such on-medication administration record. Order medications and supplies from the pharmacy and suppliers. Evaluate patients upon request.
* Verify all orders from the medical records were properly transposed to the orders/tasks within the electronic medical record and medication administration record. Maintain electronic medical record files on all inmates. File all necessary medical reports in the patient's medical record.
Performs duties as assigned/necessary which are related, or logical in assignment to the position.
-Education/Experience
* High school diploma or GED.
* Must have Florida LPN license.
* Current hands-on CPR certification from American Heart Association (AHA), *American Red Cross (ARC), or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI)
* Must have current hands-on CPR.
* Working knowledge of normal nursing practices.
* Must be able to work with people from all walks of life.
* Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.
* Ability to accurately follow complex medical orders.
* Knowledge of all applicable medical treatments and common medications administered within a corrections facility.
* Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications; ability to read, update and maintain various records and files.
* Ability to operate basic office equipment, e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
* Ability to perform duties with a professional and cooperative work ethic; ability to maintain confidentiality.
