POSITION: Licensed Practical NurseIMMEDIATESUPERVISOR: Principal/Nursing Services Coordinator FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt EMPLOYMENTTERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code 18A-4-8 Start Date: January 3, 2023 HOURS: 7:30-2:30 for Middle School and High School or 8:30-3:30 for Elementary and Intermediate School SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code 18A-4-8a, in accordance with Berkeley County Salary Schedule, Pay Grade F commensurate with WV school system experience and education level ($28,310-$42,290) EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code 18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and BCS Evaluation Policy for Service Personnel JOB SUMMARY: The LPN nurse licensed by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses, employed to work in a public school under the supervision of a school nurse. The LPN will work with students at various schools as needed. The initial location is Spring Mills High PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Accurately and safely perform/work within all standards and scope of practice set forth by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses.Under the supervision of a registered school nurse (RN), will provide health care services to students to implement the specialized health care plan.Complete accurate and timely documentation of each student's prescribed health care regimen and perform appropriate follow-up with the school RN.Communicate with immediate supervisor(s) regarding health care needs, policies, and procedures.Incorporate health care procedures appropriately into the school settings/routine.Inventory supplies and equipment for each student's health care and notify parents and/or school RN as needed.Willing to accompany student(s) to, from, and during curricular and co-curricular events.Assist in implementing specific instructional programs and activities as determined by the school RN.Maintain health-related communication with parents, school RN, and school staff as needed or requested.Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.Keep all health- and education-related information confidential per federal, state, and county regulations.Demonstrate the ability to calmly and objectively respond to various situations.Follow universal precautions in the handling of blood and bodily fluids with appropriate medical supplies and hand washing.Provide a variety of behavior management techniques in a crisis situation before resorting to passive restraint.Assist with emergency management.Perform other health-related tasks and responsibilities as designated by supervisor(s).Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS:High School diploma or equivalent, pursuant to WV Code 18A-2-5; Licensed Practical Nurse license issued from the West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses that is current and valid.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Most commonly, the educational setting is indoors with outdoor settings for recess and field trip activities.

The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate (20-60dB). Exceptions include gymnasiums as well as vocational/technical laboratories where the noise levels may be moderate to loud (60-90 dB).
