POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Provide therapeutic services in a separate individual/group setting to students with severe and persistent MENTAL HEALTH concerns. Utilizing evidence-based methodologies including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused strategies, the Licensed Mental Health Professional will work with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in addition to the students and their families help each student in the development of enduring skills that will help them improve their lives emotionally, socially, and educationally.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
• Performs casework service with individual students and families to assist in the amelioration of personal, social, or emotional problems related to their educational, social, or emotional progress.
• Provides input as part of staff planning process in dealing with the "at-risk" child and family.
• Conducts group sessions to heighten learning potential and help students grow emotionally, academically, and socially.
• Conducts home visits for the purpose of gathering information and establishing positive effective relationships, serving as a liaison between the school and the parent(s) of at-risk students.
• Develops and maintains a community network system with community family agencies and provides families with information regarding resources and services available to them.
• Makes recommendations to staff who support individualized behavior health programming.
• Utilizes data to plan, supervise, evaluate and revise instructional and behavior programs to meet student needs.
• Plans and provides in-service/training programs for parents and staff.
• Provides input and recommendations for individual education programs and evaluations/reevaluations of students.
• Assists in the development, facilitation, implementation and follow-up of training in the assessment and treatment of student behavioral health conditions.
• Provides consultation services related to the duties of the position. Keeps current with the literature, new research findings and resources in their field of expertise.
• Works collaboratively with school staff to implement instructional and behavioral health plans to enhance student's independence within the school setting.
• Ensures instructional information, materials and resources are readily available for staff and students and are appropriate to meet instructional and behavioral health needs of students.
• Ensures responsive communications with students, families, staff and community agencies.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
• Reports directly to and is supervised by the Director of Special Education
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
Required:
• Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State ESA certificate as a Licensed Mental Health Professional with professional licensure in any of the following areas: LP, LMHC, LMFT or LICSW.
• Experience in the treatment of significant MENTAL HEALTH concerns commonly associated with children and adolescents.
Preferred:
• 3 years of experience in the treatment of significant MENTAL HEALTH concerns commonly associated with children and adolescents.
• Prior experience working with or for public education.
• Certification in multiple therapeutic methodologies including but not limited to CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Play Therapy, Trauma and PCIT.
KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):
• Knowledge of social services resources in the community.
• Knowledge of child development theory and its implications in student behavioral health.
• Skilled in speaking in front of groups and other professionals.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team
SKILLS (position requirements at entry):
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents, orally and in writing.
• Well organized and adaptable.
• Ability and willingness to work with students and families of diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
• Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
• Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
• Skill in negotiation, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention.
• Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Teams.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may be exposed to prolonged exposure to visual display terminals as required.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a general posting for one or more Licensed Mental Health Professional positions. Positions may be full or part-time and will be filled as specific openings are identified.
$ 69,816 to $130,960 annual salary (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule. Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience.
Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
