We have a severely under-served population of aging adults (geriatric population). We serve several assisted living facilities along the Wasatch Front and get requests daily from residents who need to meet with a Mental Health Professional. Our clients are suffering from depression, grief, loss, isolation, anxiety, relationship issues, cognitive decline, and other issues.

Location: Davis County

Position Type: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Flexible hours available)

Pay: $35-$40 per clinical hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate therapist to provide on-site counseling services tailored to the unique needs of our geriatric population. While experience with the elderly population is not required, the ideal candidate will have experience working with elderly individuals and a strong understanding of age-related challenges and Mental Health issues commonly faced by seniors, their significant others, and family.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual and Group Therapy: Conduct individual therapy sessions with elderly residents to address a variety of Mental Health concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, loss, and adjustment issues associated with aging.
  • Family Counseling: Provide family counseling and support to residents' families and caregivers to facilitate understanding, communication, and coping strategies related to the aging process and associated challenges.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations, including assessing for suicide risk, managing behavioral disturbances, and coordinating appropriate interventions with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Collaboration and Referral: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and rehabilitation therapists, to coordinate care, share information, and make appropriate referrals for additional services as needed.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of therapy sessions, assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations.
  • Continuing Education and Training: Stay informed about current research, best practices, and trends in geriatric Mental Health through ongoing professional development activities, workshops, and seminars.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Current licensure as a therapist or counselor in the state of practice. (LCSW, MFT, CMHC, etc)
  • Knowledge of geriatric psychology, cognitive decline, dementia, and other age-related Mental Health issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport and trust with elderly clients and their families.
  • Empathy, patience, and sensitivity to the unique needs and challenges of the geriatric population.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to adapt therapeutic approaches to accommodate the cognitive and physical limitations of elderly clients.

Location
This position will be in-person therapy sessions with residents in assisted living facilities located in Davis County. Scheduling is done for you, and travel between locations will be required and you will be compensated for travel. You may not be at the same facility every day and may cover a handful of locations.
