Responsibilities of a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist:
• Ask their students questions during therapy sessions targeted to help students identify their feelings and behaviors.
• Maintain confidential case files on each student that helps them keep track of student's progress, history, and treatment plan.
• Teach students and their family members skills for conflict resolution, anger, and stress management.
• Guide student's families to external and essential resources such as medical care that would be beneficial to their mental well-being.
• Supervise and advise other therapists, assistants, and school staff. MFTs may even visit their own therapist, specially trained to give therapy to therapists.
