Capp Electric is currently taking applications for Experienced Apprentice/Journeyman/Foreman Electricians. Apprentice Electricians will work under the guidance of a Journeyman level electrician assisting in the installation, alteration, addition, and/or repair of electrical systems on commercial job sites. A Journeyman works under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type of project. General Requirements for an Apprentice Electrician:
- MUST have an active Texas Apprentice License, through the TDLR.
- MUST have two forms of ID.
- MUST have 3+ years of commercial electrical experience.
- MUST have basic hand tools of the trade.
Duties and Responsibilities for an Apprentice Electrician:
- Help in securing, relocating and organizing materials, small tools, and equipment to and from the appropriate storage areas.
- Keep work area clean by collecting and disposing of scrap or excess materials.
- Keep materials and tools clean and organized.
- Assist in pulling wire, lifting, hosting and positioning materials.
- May operate less complicated hand tools and equipment under direct supervision of a Foreman or more senior electrician.
- Dig trenches by use of hand tools.
- Assist in mounting and strapping.
- May assist more senior personnel in less complicated electrical installations under close supervision.
- Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
- Meet attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
- Must follow all Safety Policies and Programs.
- Does not work on Energized circuits or equipment.
Skills we are seeking for an Apprentice Electrician:
- Perform basic conduit bends using hand benders.
- Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, and knockout punches.
- Operate two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, & compression tools.
- Capable of performing a wire pull.
- Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, and written instructions.
- Correctly identify and explain marking on hand bender head.
- Know wire pulling procedures.
- Knowledge of tools and materials.
- Wall rough in.
- Fixture Rough in.
- Identify correct Cap/Connector to corresponding wire gauge.
- Work from mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs).
- Terminate junction boxes.
- Install conduit Feeder.
- Fixture connections.
- Underground rough in materials.
- Underground rough in methods.
- Operate equipment, trenchers, backhoe, wire tugger, hydraulic benders, & lift trucks in a safe manner.
- Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of same.
- Basic blue print knowledge.
- Layout from field sketches.
- Panel terminations.
- Size conduit and boxes.
- Underground layout and rough in.
General Requirements for a Journeyman Electrician:
- MUST have a current Texas TDLR Journeyman Electrical License.
- MUST have two forms of ID.
- Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
- Must understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime as required.
- Must have over 8,000 hours of on the job work experience.
- MUST have basic hand tools of the trade.
Duties and responsibilities for a Journeyman Electrician:
- Must have the ability and knowledge to do all of the above skills, duties and responsibilities for an Apprentice Electrician.
- Layout work and preps materials for installations.
- Trouble shoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment.
- Perform underground layout and rough in.
- Determine wire and conduit sizing.
- Install buss feeders.
- Perform switchgear installation and terminations.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
Physical Demands for both Apprentice and Journeyman Electrician:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- This job operates in a client project environment with exposure to employees, subcontractors and trades.
- Ability to freely access all points of construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Ability to comprehend forms in space and understand relationships of plane and solid objects. May be used in such tasks as blue print reading and in solving geometry problems. Frequently described as the ability to "visualize" objects of two and three dimensions, or to think visually of geometric forms.
- Ability to manipulate materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to move up or mount by using the hands or feet to include: Ladders- Stepstool, 8'to 12' ladder, extension ladder. Stairways- 3 or more flights.
- To bend forward or down from the middle of the waist or the middle of the back, to bend, downwards, to lower oneself and/or to move freely on hands and knees between 20-50 times daily.
- To perceive or comprehend by the sense of sight.
- The ability to operate or convey in a vehicle, car, or commercial vehicle.
General Requirements for a Foreman:
- MUST have a current Texas TDLR Journeyman or master’s Electrical License.
- MUST have two forms of ID.
- Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills. • Must understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations.
- Must be able to work occasional overtime as required.
- Must have organizational, communication and computer skills.
- Must have over 5 years of on the job work experience supervising electricians.
- MUST have basic hand tools of the trade.
Duties and responsibilities for a Foreman:
- Must have the ability and knowledge to oversee Journeyman and Apprentice Electricians.
- Layout work and prep materials for installations.
- Trouble shoot and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment.
- Perform underground and overhead layout and rough in.
- Determine wire and conduit sizing.
- Oversee and install buss feeders.
- Oversee and perform switchgear installation and terminations.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
- Coordinate and assign daily work tasks.
- Oversee and assure all OSHA safety rules are followed.
- Schedule Material, Tools and Equipment.
- Train and Monitor for quality installations.
