Licensed Cosmetologist

Position Overview:

Provide skincare treatments to face to enhance an individual’s appearance.

Essential Functions:

Facials & Waxing

• Sterilize equipment and clean work areas.
• Examine clients’ skin to evaluate skin condition and appearance.
• Cleanse clients’ skin with water, creams or lotions.
• Demonstrate how to clean and care for skin properly and recommend skin-care regiments.
• Perform simple extractions to remove blackheads.
• Select and apply cosmetic products such as creams, lotions and tonics.
• Determine which products will improve clients’ skin quality and appearance.
• Treat the facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance, using specialized techniques and products.
• Refer clients to medical personnel for treatment of serious skin problems.
• Remove body and facial hair by applying wax.
• Provide facial massages.

Manicures & Pedicures

• Clean and sanitize tools and work environment.
• Apply undercoat and clear or colored polish onto nails with brush.
• Shape and smooth ends of nails, using files or emery boards.
• Prepare nail cuticles with water and oil, using cuticle pusher or nippers to trim cuticles.
• Prepare customers’ nails in soapy water, using files and orange sticks.
• Remove previously applied nail polish, using liquid remover and swabs.
• Schedule client appointments and accept payments.
• Assess the condition of clients’ hands, remove dead skin and massage hands.
• Roughen surfaces of fingernails, using buffer block.
• Advise clients on nail care and use of products and colors.

Misc.

• Utilizes appropriate suggestive selling techniques.

• Assists all guests in a sincere and courteous manner.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of all hotel safety and security procedures required to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees and guests.
• Keeps immediate superior promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate.
• Answers phone at Darling Reflections Spa front desk according to established procedures.

• Attends department meetings.
• Knows all safety and emergency procedures.  Is aware of accident prevention policies.
• Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of Darling Reflection Spa and front desk area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.  In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meeting is required.

Upon employment, all employees are required to full comply with Regency Hotel Management rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities.  Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Qualifications:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills and abilities.

Education:       High School Diploma or GED required.

Cosmetology or Nail Technician state license.

Experience:     One year Cosmetology and/or Nail Technician experience preferred

• Must be articulate and able to communicate effectively with others.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit for up to 8 hours.
• Requires walking to and from various areas within the department as well as other departments throughout the building.
• Requires bending down and picking up supplies.  Able to lift 35 lbs. occasionally.
