Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor

At Gulf Coast Behavioral Health we are doing something different. We are putting together a team of medical providers who believe individuals' mental and physical health should be treated as deeply interconnected. This integration process is going to require providers willing to rise to the challenge posed by the various health crises we are facing as a community.

The therapist position at Gulf Coast Behavioral Health is key to the philosophy and growth of our company and the outcomes of the clients we serve. As a therapist, you will play an important role in the integrated team and often help lead in the process of returning, healing and maintaining health.

Gulf Coast is an integrated health clinic treating a general outpatient population including a broad range of ages, cultural backgrounds and illnesses. Gulf coast provides both mental health and substance abuse treatment as well as a focus on preventative care, education, life coaching, relationship counseling and referrals. Treatment settings may include:

• Individuals
• Couples
• Families
• Groups
• IOP and PHP Programs

Minimum requirements:

• A masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family, or other licensable mental health degrees
• Unencumbered license from the state of Louisiana, independent license is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of mental health conditions and best practices for psychological treatment
• Well-developed listening and interview skills to explore patient needs and administer treatment plans
• Strong oral communication skills to counsel and advise patients
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective treatment plans
• Coaching skills to help patients make positive changes
• Organization skills to maintain up-to-date, easy-to-navigate patient files
• Familiarity with privacy, health and safety laws
• Computer skills to operate record keeping, scheduling, email and word processing software
