QUALIFCATIONS:
Hold or be eligible for state certification as school librarian, with knowledge of acquisition, preparation, and utilization of both print and non-print media.
Broad knowledge and experience in teaching, media programs, management and administration of Library / Media services.
Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all members of the school community.
REPORTS TO: Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Selects and acquires materials to implement the curriculum and to meet the individual interest, ability, and maturity levels of students.
2. Catalogs, organizes, and distributes all print/ non-print materials and audio-visual equipment for effective use.
3. Participates in curriculum training planning and program development and implementation and develops a close working relationship with teachers, principals, and other Media Specialists.
4. Creates an attractive environment and atmosphere that encourages students and teachers to use the media center.
5. Stimulates and guides students in all phases of their reading, viewing, and listening, so that they may assimilate information.
6. Provides instruction in cooperation with the staff in in media and resource skills.
7. Provides media center experiences to help students develop satisfactory personal relationships, social attitudes, and vocational and avocational interests.
8. Conducts with teachers and volunteer personnel (adult and student) in-service and other staff development activities in the use of audio-visual equipment and materials.
9. Acquaints the staff and students with the media collection, educational software options, and new materials.
10.Assists the principal in ensuring that instructional materials and equipment are
used to provide learning experiences compatible with the educational needs of students.
11. Assists in the integration of technology applications in the curriculum.
12.Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As per contract and board policies and regulations.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certificated personnel.

Pay: $46,575.00 - $71,725.00 per year
