Job description

Utah State University Libraries seeks a collaborative, flexible, and user-centered instructor for the temporary (one year) position of Liaison Assistant. Reporting to the Head of Learning & Engagement Services, this person will primarily work with the liaison librarian team supporting teaching and learning in a variety of disciplines. Sessions rely on a variety of teaching methods, including discussion, one-on-one consultations, active learning, and demonstrations.

 

We welcome applicants with a range of experiences, including those new to the profession. Salary is a minimum of $49,000, with excellent benefits. Review of applications will begin on December 13th and the position will remain open until filled. The anticipated start date is January 2024.


  • 75% Provides individual research consultations and delivers information literacy instruction in the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, and Business disciplines, and other courses as needed.
  • 10% Provides general and specialized research services through e-chat.
  • 10% Maintains e-learning materials such as tutorials and course guides on an as needed basis.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience in a relevant field; or an associate degree plus two years of experience in a relevant field; or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or international equivalent by start date.
  • Knowledge of information literacy and library instruction pedagogy

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
