Frost Brown Todd LLP, a national law firm of 1000+ legal and business professionals in sixteen markets, is currently seeking a full-time Legal Support Assistant to join our Columbus office. The Legal Support Assistant will work directly with attorneys and Legal Practice Assistants to gain hands-on, practical Legal Support experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level person who has an interest in law. As FBT is committed to providing a learning and development program for the Legal Support Assistant position, the investment time is typically a two-year period to prepare the individual with the skillsets needed to advance to other open positions within the firm.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Learning firm systems such as Aderant Time, ChromeRiver, NetDocuments, and New Business Intake by regularly attending IT training programs.
  • Learning how to enter and review time entries in Aderant.
  • Learning how to process and review expense reimbursements and check requests using ChromeRiver.
  • Learning how to utilize programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Nuance to create and edit materials.
  • Learning how to use Rendezvous and Outlook calendaring to coordinate and arrange meetings and conference calls, including booking conference rooms, arranging catering and/or technology needs and sending calendar invites.
  • Learning how to draft and type correspondence, memoranda and other documents, and how to navigate and search NetDocuments to find previously created templates.
  • Learning how to use office equipment to perform general office duties such as scanning, copying, collating and assembling documents.
  • Providing a high level of customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Demonstrating effective teamwork and providing overflow assistance to legal practice assistants as needed/requested.
  • Providing front desk coverage and assisting with the preparation and delivery of outgoing U.S. mail and interoffice mail in the Receptionist/Office Assistant’s absence.
  • Assisting with special projects as requested.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field, an Associate's degree in paralegal studies or an ABA-approved paralegal certificate.
  • Possess interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by email and telephone and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys, managers and business professionals.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter and demonstrated initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to shift attention from one area of work to another quickly and effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in the firm’s computer applications and the use of office equipment.
