Open Position: We have an immediate opening for a Legal Researcher.
Location: The position is based in the Washington, D.C. area (Arlington, VA) and is a hybrid position that will include weekly in-office time; local candidates or those with the ability to relocate to the Washington D.C. area preferred.
Duties for this position include:
- Produce high-quality client deliverables for a senior-level audience on a range of information technology and cybersecurity issues; typical deliverables include briefings, white papers, analytic and metrics reports, and work plans.
- Conduct original research on national and international legislative and regulatory developments related to cybersecurity, efficiently and succinctly distilling key policy and implementation-related considerations.
- Support the development of new or updated cybersecurity risk management programs for clients, including both quantitative and qualitative assessment components.
- Monitor and report on trends related to cybersecurity risk management, compliance, law and policy, privacy, and reporting requirements.
- Establish and maintain client relationships and regularly brief clients on project execution and deliverables with an ability to present legal findings and considerations to a non-legal audience.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD or MA preferred.
- Academic or professional background in law, public policy, business, risk management, journalism, cybersecurity, or another relevant field.
- 2-5 Years professional experience, preferably in a role involving writing, legal research, quantitative analysis, and/or client service.
- Ability to conduct research on complex subject matter and translate research for client deliverables.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in working in a multidisciplinary team and fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Interest in cybersecurity and information technology policy issues.
- The position is based in the Washington, D.C. area (Arlington, VA); local candidates or those with ability to relocate to the Washington D.C. area preferred.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
