Corporate client in Cupertino seeks an IP Legal Licensing Specialist to join their team. This is a long-term contract role, $45-52/hr based on relevant work experience.

Job Summary: This role involves managing legal aspects of licensing, both inbound and outbound, for our client's technology and Intellectual Property (IP) assets. The ideal candidate is adept at reviewing, drafting, and managing licenses, and ensuring compliance with legal standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review inbound and outbound licensing requests which are primarily related to the use of creative works.
  • Coordinate with product teams and other internal stakeholders to identify licensing needs and provide strategic advice on licensing options and risks.
  • Manage the lifecycle of licensing agreements, including initiation, maintenance, renewal, and termination.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements in all licensing activities.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to manage and mitigate risks associated with IP licensing.
  • Liaise with external parties, including licensors, licensees, and legal counsel, to facilitate licensing transactions.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting IP and licensing in the technology sector.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on licensing practices and Intellectual Property matters.
  • Assist in resolving disputes related to licensing agreements and IP rights.
  • Support the legal team in other IP-related matters as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal, Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Law, Business is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IP licensing, preferably in the technology industry.
  • Strong understanding of Intellectual Property law and licensing practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools and standard office software.
