Legal Director, Commercial Contracts (Hybrid)

About the role:
A Medical Devices Manufacturer Company is seeking a Legal Director, reporting to the VP & Chief Corporate Counsel, to join its US Corporate Legal team and support continued growth in its commercial contracting practice. This individual will be responsible for managing a legal team of five attorneys and legal staff and partnering with BSC Sourcing and supporting clients across all divisions and departments in preparing and negotiating commercial agreements and handling other commercial transactional matters like software audits, vendor disputes, supply chain issues, etc..
Your responsibilities include:

• Fostering a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives
• Through dotted line relationship, training and managing India-based Commercial contracting center of excellence (COE) team.
• Overseeing outside counsel including managing budget and determining what work is sent to outside counsel
• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial documents including master service agreements, statements of work, SaaS/Cloud agreements, software license agreements, software development agreements, managed services agreements, supply agreements, quality agreements and information security agreements
• Working with other BSC stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations including relevant data privacy laws and cybersecurity and technology regulations.
• In partnership with other BSC stakeholders, developing and implementing standard legal positions, contract processes, technology policies, and internal playbooks.
• Counseling and advising internal clients across the global and at all levels, including Executive Committee members on legal issues and internal process, in particular, those relevant to technology
• Representing and supporting internal clients in contract negotiations with external parties
• Partnering with internal business clients to ensure agreements are consistent with corporate policies and processes, as well as the desired business arrangement
• Developing and providing training to internal clients and stakeholders on company policies/processes, best practices and relevant laws and regulations

What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor; active good standing in one state bar in the US
• 12+ years combined experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, with experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
• Deep understanding of contract law and legal concepts, including technology transactions and their practical application in a business environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• In-house legal experience supporting an IT or broad-based contracting group
• Experience managing high performing teams
• Ability to summarize and communicate legal concepts in clear and concise manner with a broad audience, at all levels of the organization (including members of the Executive Committee)
• Ability to manage and prioritize a high-volume workload in a fast-paced working environment
