Position Details

The Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University Bloomington seeks dynamic and enthusiastic colleagues for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Painting to begin in fall 2024. The Eskenazi School is dedicated to a faculty composed of diverse scholars and practitioners who demonstrate excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will share the values we try to cultivate in our students: to be equitable, curious, collaborative, and adaptable to a global art world.
The ideal candidate should have experience teaching painting at the university level, be an advocate for the exploration of multiple strategies in the studio classroom, and be familiar with a range of theories and practices related to painting. Additional desired skills could include but are not limited to digital art, drawing, illustration, graphic design, installation, or fabrication.

Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, participating in group and individual critiques, assisting in maintaining the studio environment, providing service to the area and school, and maintaining and pursuing professional and academic expertise. The successful candidate must have an MFA or equivalent terminal degree, a minimum of two years of college-level teaching experience beyond graduate school, and evidence of potential for excellence in teaching painting at all levels. Professional experience and service to the profession is also desired.
