The Boise State University Department of Communication invites applications for a teaching-focused renewable Lecturer to begin Fall 2024. 

We seek candidates with teaching expertise that can cross two or more of the three areas of study in our curriculum: Culture, Difference & Advocacy, Social Systems, and Media & Society. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in our Media & Society area of study as well as at least one other area. Ideal candidates would also teach core courses (e.g., research methods, senior capstone). We are committed to hiring a faculty member who will help broaden existing strengths in our department.

Teaching Activities:

Normal position responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load with some service expectations. We also offer mentoring and other resources to enable successful teaching activities.

We are looking for colleagues with complementary interests who will develop and maintain our vibrant major by partnering and collaborating with faculty and students in our department and across campus.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • MA in Communication or related field  (PhD preferred) by July 2024
  • Evidence of teaching and/or mentoring experience relevant to the position

  2. Curriculum Vitae, which includes employment history, publications (if applicable), courses taught, leadership roles and responsibilities, and professional activities including service
  3. Teaching portfolio, which includes syllabi, example assignments, and assessments of teaching excellence 
  4. Contact information for three professional references.

Your references will receive requests via email at that time, not at the time of your application. Letters of recommendation are not required.

The position will remain open until filled, with an initial review date of December 4, 2024.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is expected to be $43,000 - $47,000. Salary will be for a 9-month, renewable lecturer faculty appointment.
