Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director for Online Learning and Academic Technologies, the Learning Management System Administrator (User Support Assistant I)maintains the Learning Management System (LMS) and provides support to faculty and students using the system for online and face-to-face course content delivery. In order to provide support, the Learning Management Administrator must be detail oriented, and solve problems collaboratively with other college units and offices.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
Faculty Support:
  • Assist faculty by troubleshooting issues regarding but not limited to course rosters, email issues, and student access.
  • Provide support to faculty with the, addition of other faculty and guests, creation of practice courses, creation of merged courses, creation of groups and enrollment of members, copying materials into new courses, providing basic information such as how to open course, how to email, how to copy materials, respond to inquiries about Concourse (FIT's digital syllabus).

Student Support:
  • Respond to student emails and phone requests regarding but not limited to student access to course(s) and troubleshooting email to instructors via LMS.

General LMS Administration:
  • Manage courses in the Learning Management System including announcements, course management (create, edit, open, update, delete), account management (create, edit, update, delete), troubleshoot and resolve issues related to accounts, i.e., duplicate user accounts, etc.).
  • Open tickets with SUNY helpdesk as needed. Collaborate with stakeholders across the college (IT, Registrar, department chairs, etc.) on matters concerning the LMS and integrated systems such as Concourse or Voicethread.
  • Work with IT as needed to test systems that impact the LMS (e.g. latest Hyperion upgrades).
  • Attend training sessions on the new LMS, Brightspace, in order to learn the system and functions from the Admin role.
  • Attend twice-weekly meetings with the Online Learning team; keep the Online Learning and Academic Technologies team updated on the admin-related functionality and discuss any issues.
  • Attend SUNY-wide meetings such as monthly SUNYOnline Admin meetings, SUNY/Brightspace Office Hours meetings, etc.
  • Communicate with third-party partners that FITs Brightspace version is integrated with, including Voicethread, Screencast-o-matic, Padlet, WebEx, and Qwickly. Make necessary updates and create accounts for these tools as needed.
  • Track third-party tools.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a related field required.
  • One or more years of experience administering Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably Brightspace/D2L.
  • Three or more years of experience working with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, data management tools, Learning Management Systems, or other information systems

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Computer Science, IT systems, technical support fields, or business technology preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Excellent customer service and client support skills.
  • Knowledge of back end, administrative tasks to run LMS successfully.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to multi-task in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.

Salary
Salary: $55,644 per year
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Starting Salary: $55,644 per year with step increments per Salary Schedule 91, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
