What You Will Do:

 

National Louis University seeks an innovative and organized Project Manager with a unique skillset and experience with curriculum Design and strong project management experience to assist with the coordination and development of an innovative undergraduate program model. Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Innovation Office, the Project Manager of Learning Design and Innovation (PM) will work with a team of university stakeholders charged with managing several areas of innovation, including a new initiative focused on delivering a new and accelerated academic model for undergraduate students.

 

In an effort to continue to develop student-centered academic experiences that foster student success, NLU is launching a new academic model: Learn & Earn in Three (LE3). LE3 is one of several areas of innovation the PM will support. LE3 is intended to function as a three-year bachelor’s degree program that aligns and integrates work and academic experiences and places learners on a path to earning a bachelor’s degree in three years. Leveraging a combination of work-based learning, competence-based education, credit for prior learning, and high-impact online and low-residency programming, the LE3 model will focus on building an academic experience that is highly applied and integrates work experience and academic competencies.

 

The PM will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing critical areas of this initiative (LE3), as well as other areas of innovation as determined by the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer. The primary areas of responsibility include directly managing curriculum development efforts for LE3 and working with cross-functional teams to manage goals, meet milestones and deadlines for an assigned portfolio of Innovation Projects.


  • Curriculum Development: Work with the Learning Experience Design Team and undergraduate academic units/disciplines to review curriculum and develop a three-year academic model by:
    • completing course mapping to determine learning pathways and curriculum plans to ensure programs are well-aligned and allow seamless transfer of credits
    • identifying appropriate modalities and methods of applied learning
    • leveraging learning technologies and online platforms to ensure curriculum is interactive and can be made accessible to learners
    • ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices in education.
  • Project Planning and Management: Actively develop and maintain systems and processes to effectively connect project stakeholders and manage the overall execution of a portfolio innovation initiatives by leading the following project management activities:
    • assisting with defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables with a focus on curriculum and Innovation
    • developing a detailed project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation
    • organizing and convening meetings, as needed, to bring stakeholders together to collaborate, monitor progress, and adjust the project plan as needed
    • maintaining open and clear communication with all project stakeholders
    • maintaining project documentation, including project plans, schedules, and reports, specifically tailored to curriculum and Innovation Projects
    • tracking project expenses and make necessary adjustments to keep projects on budget
    • identifying and communicating project risks or barriers related to the overall efficacy and outcome of the project

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Workforce Development, Curriculum and Instruction, or other related field.  Advanced Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing curriculum and academic programs including instructional Design and assessment strategies
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects and design systems to monitor overall project performance
  • Detail Orientation - Has established a track record of producing work that is highly accurate, demonstrates attention to detail and reflects well on the organization. Is personally committed to high quality work and encourages others to have similar standards.
  • Interpersonal Communication - Communicates effectively and appropriately. Uses good judgment as to what to communicate to whom as well as the best way to get that accomplished. Speaks in a clear and credible manner, selecting the right tone for the situation and audience. Listens to others and allows them to make their point.
  • Ability to Learn and Grow - Tends to learn new skills quickly on his/her own and apply them both quickly and effectively to work situations.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Ability to lead the development of culturally responsive curriculum and instruction, ability to lead courageous conversations school wide, demonstrate understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion and its impact on NCE faculty, students, program, and governance.

For example, articulates common goals, communicates how individual roles contribute to team success, provides both clear direction and sufficient resources while removing or reducing obstacles to team success.
