SUMMARY:
The LEAN (LEAP) Specialist will be responsible for training and coaching of team members; ensuring standardization, adherence to LEAN tools, and piloting workshops or projects. The LEAP Specialist will work closely with the APU Directors and Managers to coordinate and track improvement efforts; assists in the evaluation, development, and implementation of training to achieve LEAP (LISI Excellence Achievement Program) integration goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the implementation of LEAP and APU/APG (Autonomous Production Units/Autonomous Production Groups) through training/coaching in line with the site's strategic deployment plan.
  • Supports Performance Improvement Manager with the development and implementation of training in accordance with LEAP integration goals and objectives.
  • Trains and coaches team members in LEAP philosophy and tools, ensuring standardization and compliance to LEAP methods (5S, SMED, VSM,Work Station Management), pilot workshops, or projects.
  • Works with process owners and/or stakeholders to complete project charter: outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, and timing.
  • Supports operations in the choice of tools and priorities, identification of process improvement and re-engineering opportunities through data analysis, such as Six Sigma or capability studies.
  • Provides support to production and engineering teams.
  • Develops action plans for continuous improvement projects, such as 5S, SMED, TPM, WSM, VSM, APU/APG implementation.
  • Schedules meetings with the action plan process owners and follows up on outstanding actions.
  • Ensures all standards are applied, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being captured, 5S is developed and sustained, and TPM is applied and sustained.
  • Flexibility and ability to complete various tasks, and work various schedules as assigned to meet the Company's business needs.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Responsible for attending all training provided, and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management's attention immediately.
  • Continually seeks opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may direct the workload of leap coordinators.
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Project Management or Engineering; minimum 4-6 years in a manufacturing environment required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified and/or experienced in Project Management, Six Sigma (Green Belt) and Lean manufacturing methodologies.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend correspondence and basic technical procedures. Ability to write basic reports and instructions to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, statistical analysis, and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements).
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and follow instructions in written and basic diagram formats. Ability to perform and apply different problem solving techniques, handle internal/external situations and multi-task functions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
