Ultium Cells Overview:

Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

Job Description:

Strong interpersonal skills to mentor and train. Must adhere to Ultium Cells values (Inclusion of all people, speak up be bold, Engagement leads to collaboration, Accountability and empowerment, think customer first, Continuous innovation, look ahead and One Ultium Team) The candidate should be a self-starter, able to recognize problems and pursue them without waiting for direction. Must be experienced with BPD Processes, Standardized Work principles, Problem Solving, and 6S/ WPO standards. A working knowledge of the Quality systems and processes is a plus. Should have a general knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. Must have good communication skills and be comfortable making presentations to groups of all sizes. Candidates should be detail oriented, conscientious, articulate, and organized.

Requirements

• Must be physically capable of performing all tasks.

• Excellent people skills with the ability to motivate others while building and maintaining relationships

• Candidates must have taken the computer skills assessment for Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Job Responsibilities

• Train Lean Manufacturing principles to all levels as needed

• Represent the CI team in all Basketweaves and lead implementation of all Basketweave initiatives in the facility.

• Attend all BPD Board reviews to coach continuous improvement of the process

• Coach and mentor Crew Leaders in maintaining their floor level BPD board data and writing effective countermeasures

• Coach layered audit process to Crew Leader

• Complete Layered Audits

• Attend leadership audits when possible

• Coach all standardized work elements in execution, writing, and changing standardized work

• Coach and mentor Crew Leaders to new processes

• Promote problem solving initiatives

• Assist with and take a leadership role in internal and external audits

• Work with teams to maintain and improve 3R6S

• Update and maintain documents on SharePoint Site

• Assist in development of process and training plans

• Collaborate with other Core Team Members at U1 and U3 and department business planners to identify best practices

• Support departmental needs as they arise (SPQRCE)
