Job Summary:

Construction Digital and Technology (CD&T) is searching for a 6 Sigma Black Belt to help guide process and resolution for global support issues by utilizing the 6 Sigma process for the CD&T product portfolio.

CD&T owns accountability for construction industries technology products that include Cat Grade, Cat Detect, VisionLink, and Cat Command. This position reports to the CD&T global product support manager and is focused on driving issue resolution throughout the internal CD&T teams by partnering with Cat Digital, product group, and supporting Integrated Component and Solutions (ICS) teams. The position is suited for persons that are looking for opportunities for increased leadership, global team collaboration, and exposure to all of Caterpillar’s machine product groups. What You Will Do:

  • Leads, manages, and supports projects related to process and product improvements using Lean, Six Sigma and project management methodologies to achieve business goals.
  • Leading and managing Six Sigma project portfolios to achieve measurable business process improvements.
  • Employing Six Sigma methodology into organizational operations to meet business goals and objectives.
  • Ownership of the CD&T CPI process driving issue resolution for process improvements, field follow issues, and high impact commercial issues.
  • Champion CD&T product issues with partner organizations to drive issue resolution in a timely manner.

Education requirement:

Minimum BSME or BSEE or 4yr degree in technical field

What skills you will have:

Analytical Thinking:

  • Ability to determine and understand a problem or issue significance to Cat customers.
  • Ability to identify problem or issue inputs and their impact to the overall scope of a project.
  • Ability to use gather and utilize data to make inferences and arrive at conclusions.

Problem Solving:

  • Ability to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches provide solution recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Utilize all methods of tools available to identify problems.
  • Build and utilize a network of technical experts in the solution process.

Process Improvement:

  • Implement methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes which will include ownership of the issue prioritization process for CD&T
  • Defines the critical workflow for executing key processes that maximize efficiency through use of CPI process within CD&T.
  • Focuses on the most significant problems to maximize efficiency gains by maintaining a holistic issue prioritization methodology across CD&T

Project Management:

  • Gathers initial stakeholder input to align on project scoping and resource allocation.
  • Collaboration with Cat Digital and product group technical and support teams to identify key team members for projects.
  • Clearly communicate issue status to internal and external partners such as dealer and go-to-market (GTM) teams.

Six Sigma Methodology:

  • Utilize Six Sigma tools and processes to solve problems and deliver CD&T quality data documentation for monthly leadership reporting.
  • Research important causes that have an impact on quality and customer satisfaction with the use of statistical tools.

Top Candidates will have:

  • Proven project leadership

  • Product/customer support or quality related experience

Additional Information:

The location for this position is Mossville, IL, Tucson, AZ, or Clayton, NC    

Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

This position will require less than 15% travel.
