Job description

Veterans Management Services, Inc. (VMSI) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) based in the greater Washington, DC area. We are looking for a Part-Time Facilitator (Instructor) to join our team supporting our Department of Veterans Affairs, VAAA client in Frederick, MD. The mission of the Veterans Affairs Acquisition Academy (VAAA) is to deliver customer-focused training and professional development solutions that equip the Federal workforce to deliver acquisition excellence in service to the Veteran.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Facilitator will provide a blend of leadership and soft skills support to include serving as instructor, instructional design support, quality control oversight, and assisting with special projects as needed.

  • Responsible for delivering and instructing professional development courses and workshops focused on soft skills and leadership for the VA’s acquisition workforce. Topics include Leadership and Management, Planning, Priority Setting, Effective Time Management, Emotional Intelligence, Managing Work, Organizing Winning Teams, Developing Others, Mastering Difficult Conversations, and Making Decisions in Changing Environments.
  • Assist in the development and instruction of training programs tailored for acquisition leadership.
  • Provide expertise in leadership and relevant topics to the instructional design team, supporting the creation of synchronous and asynchronous materials through research and drafting.
  • Offer high-level guidance and analysis services to leadership in a highly technical capacity.
  • Manage, coordinate, and oversee multiple complex projects and activities simultaneously.
  • Evaluate the technical accuracy of in-person and distance learning courses, using a government-provided audit form. Assess the instructor's understanding of course material, identify areas requiring correction or supplementation, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Attend and actively participate in internal pilots and dry runs, providing constructive feedback based on expertise to enhance course effectiveness.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree with 14 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a facilitative or instructor role.
  • Strong background in leadership, management, and soft skills instruction.
  • Previous experience leading teams or facilitating team leadership.
  • Desired expertise in designing and developing training for various delivery styles (instructor-led, self-paced, virtual).
  • Proven project management skills, ensuring timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Advanced performance consulting and analysis skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Facilitate VA courses up to 2 weeks per month.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $85.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 40 per week
