That's No Moon is an independent AAA game development studio established in 2021 by veterans of some of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed creative teams in the world, including Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Santa Monica Studio, Bungie, PlayStation, and more. A remote-friendly studio with a central office and performance capture stage located in Los Angeles, That's No Moon is creating the next generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences built upon a culture of creativity, collaboration, responsible production practices, and individual empowerment. We are looking for a Lead Writer to help realize the dialogue, characters and world of our upcoming AAA third-person action-adventure game. The Lead Writer reports to the Narrative Director and will collaborate closely with content and feature creation teams.
This role is ideally suited for a game writer with leadership experience who is passionate about leveraging the interactive nature of the games medium to create a deeper connection between the narrative and our players.
Responsibilities:
- Directly contribute to the game narrative by with writing for cinematic scripts, in-game dialog, and any other necessary deliverables
- Guide and schedule the writing team on a day-to-day basis
- Create schedules, task estimates, lore bibles, style guides, character bios, design documents and other materials as needed
- Partner with the Narrative Director and design leadership to create a narrative design and content creation culture that is collaborative, holistic and quality-focused
- Collaborate with consultants and subject matter experts to ensure all grounded, real-world aspects of the story, characters, and world are represented thoughtfully and authentically
Requirements & Skills:
- Demonstrable experience working throughout all key stages of game production, from conceptualization to commercial release
- Extensive knowledge of fiction writing principles, process, and best practices
- Experience running and working within a writers' room
- Proven ability to work with and influence a large, multi-disciplinary team
- Prior experience working on AAA game titles or film/TV projects of equivalent scale
- Possess an extensive portfolio of high-quality published projects

TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $137,000 - $190,000
