What would you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

Woodard & Curran is seeking a Lead Water/Wastewater Utility Technician to join our experienced team of Technicians and Operators. As a Lead Field Service Technician, you will be a working supervisor responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater collection system and water distribution system. This position is under the Project Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. If you enjoy working outdoors protecting nature's precious resource, water, then you will find this position challenging and rewarding.

Normal workday hours are 7:00AM - 3:30 PM Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and storm coverage.  Must be able to work holidays and as required for emergency call outs on rotation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Supervise the operations and efficiency of the assigned crew.
    • Contact appropriate vendors and service providers to get pricing, order materials, or services.
    • Oversees work performed by outside contractors.
    • Instruct employees on the correct and safe use of various equipment (i.e., backhoe, excavators) and must operate the equipment on the job site.
    • Install water meters as needed.
    • Locate valves, water mains, manholes, leaks, etc., in the field.
    • May have to assist with repair and maintenance of sewage pumps and sewer lines.
    • Responsible for the safeguarding and maintenance of personal protective equipment and issued tools.
    • General knowledge of utility and company policies and procedures.
    • Serve in a rotating on-call capacity and respond to after-hours emergencies.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.
What will you need to succeed?
    • Minimum of high school diploma or GED required.
    • Ability to obtain necessary certification within 24 months of hire required (D level Water Distribution Certification).
    • Five to 10 years of related experience in similar field.
    • Any combination of the training and experience which will indicate possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed above.
    • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds, walk up to 5 miles per day, and constantly stoop, kneel, crouch, and stand.
    • Valid driver's license with clear driving record.
    • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
$32 - $35 an hour
Depending on qualifications and experience.
