JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Burbank Early Childhood School Lead Teacher - Toddler (2.5-4 year olds)
Reports to: Director of Burbank Early Childhood School
Employment Status: Fulltime
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Description: Facilitate learning by identifying and understanding individual characteristics of
all students taught and present subject matter accordingly; manage the classroom
by organizing it to stimulate learning and to foster discipline; make professional
decisions about what to teach and across subject areas based on available
curriculum guidelines
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Qualifications:
- Pre-K License, Age 3-grade three license, or Early Childhood Degree required
- Experience with groups of young children
- Certified training in child abuse recognition and prevention, communicable disease recognition and management, first aid, CPR preferred - will provide training if necessary
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- General computer skills
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and display lesson plans.
- Plan and help implement classroom curricular plans.
- Lead classroom curricular activities, including all learning domains.
- Ensure safety of all children.
- Meet with your team once a week for planning.
- Collaborate in inclusive team environments in the classroom and the building.
- Become familiar with ODE standards and Burbank curriculum.
- Attend and fully participate in all classroom functions and activities including but not limited to, indoor & outdoor exploration, Parent/Teacher conferences, field trips, open houses, parent orientation and other school wide events.
- Assist in keeping complete and well-organized classroom records.
- Exceed ODE continuing education requirements.
- Maintain credential requirements.
- Participate in parent meetings and other school/home enrichment activities.
- Maintain student assessments and anecdotal observations.
- Prepare conference reports and meet with parents.
- Provide consistent email updates to families.
- Attend monthly evening staff meetings.
- Perform staff committee work.
- Contribute to room maintenance.
- Maintain professional goals and annual evaluation portfolio.
- Communicate student referrals and attend meetings as needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and promote successful relationships among children and adults.
- Contribute to a high quality classroom environment.
- Strengthen teaching qualifications through course work and workshops.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director

- Interruption of duties by students, visitors, staff and/or telephoning
- Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, see , read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel and stoop
