Lead Software Engineer, Emerging Technology

The primary mission of the Lead Software Engineer in Emerging Technology role is to drive innovation at Lennar by delivering software solutions with emerging technologies. The position sits in ­­­our Enterprise Data and Analytics team, which aims to drive improved business outcomes using insights gleaned from data and analytics and infuse them into Lennar’s corporate fabric. The Software Engineer will have a unique opportunity to work on exciting and innovative projects at the forefront of technology. Our team is dedicated to exploring, incubating, and implementing emerging technologies and paradigms to drive value across Lennar.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research and Exploration: Propose new areas for emerging technologies research, lead research activities, and provide guidance and recommendations based on thorough analysis and hands-on experience with these technologies.
• Proof of Concept (PoC)/Prototype Development: Drive the design and development of PoCs and prototypes to validate the feasibility and impact of emerging technologies and present findings and recommendations to leadership.
• Coding and Development: Lead and oversee coding and development tasks, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members which defining and enforcing coding standards and best practices across the team.
• Testing and Quality Assurance: Lead the design of testing patterns across the emerging technologies stack and guide the team on it importance and application.
• Documentation: Document project progress, codebase, technical specifications, and user guides to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team and organization.
• Collaborative Problem Solving: Organize and drive collaborative problem-solving sessions, pushing the team to contribute ideas for technical challenges and exploring innovative approaches.
• Learning and Skill Development: Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends through continuous learning, training, and self-study, and present to team and leadership to keep them informed.
• Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicate emerging technologies study findings to leadership and the rest of IT.
• Adaptation and Flexibility: Adapt quickly to changing requirements, priorities, and emerging technologies, embracing a flexible and agile mindset.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 7-10 years of software / full-stack development experience.
• 5+ years of coding experience in React.js and Node.js.
• 5+ years of experience with Cloud technologies.
• Strong communication skills, with demonstrated experience working directly with business stakeholders to develop in an Agile environment.
• Previous experience or exposure to emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, OpenAI, AR/VR, or Internet of Things (IoT), is a plus.
• Expertise in fundamental software development concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages commonly used in software development, such as Java, Scala, or Go.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages in Emerging Technology development, such as Solidity, Python, or R
• Proficiency with cloud platforms and services that support emerging technologies, such as blockchain platforms, AI/ML frameworks, or IoT platforms.
• Expertise in modern web development technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js).
• Expertise with back-end development frameworks and technologies, such as Node.js, Express.js, Django, or Ruby on Rails.
• Proven track-record of problem-solving, with an ability to think creatively to provide innovative solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, consuming, and building RESTful APIs.
• Demonstrated experience working with testing frameworks like Jest, Mocha, etc.
• Experience with databases (SQL and NoSQL) and ability to design efficient database schemas and write complex queries.
• Significant experience with Agile software development process with a strong emphasis on test driven development.
• Experience with end-to-end instrumentation, monitoring, and incident management.
• Expertise in GitHub branching and release best practices.

Physical Requirements:

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Software Engineer to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
