Job Summary:
Provide oversight, leadership and mentorship to fellow Dental Assistants. As a partner to the dentist and an organizer of the department, the Lead RDA supports dental care delivery by assisting in the performance of dental procedures and carrying out the day-to-day operations of the back office.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Three years' technical experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in state of practice: Required
- Radiation Safety Certificate: Required
- Coronal Polish license: Required
- Sealant license: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
Essential Functions:
- Oversees, trains and directs all other Dental Assistants in support of practice leadership. Ensures adequate staffing coverage and minimize impact to the delivery of patient care. Maintains appropriate and adequate clinical supplies, while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Provides oversight and direction to the team in accordance with the policies and procedures. Fosters a success-oriented environment that reflects the practice values. Assists the dentist or other health care provider during examinations and treatment.
- Sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment. Prepares treatment rooms, instruments and tray setups for dental procedures. Greets and prepares patients for treatment. Exposes, develops and mounts dental radiographs. Assists the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures.
- Conducts work in compliance with office policies and procedures, safety and OSHA guidelines. Records medical and dental histories and vital signs, and treatment information of patient.
- Participates in the achievement of patient satisfaction and office production goals. Provides patient education materials. Maintains an appropriate office environment.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
