Our platform and product engineers must be able to write applications seamlessly without understanding the details of the underlying storage and data solution!The Product Management role within the Platform Engineering organization owns Uber's Platform solutions and is supported by dedicated engineering teams, product designers, data scientists and internal stakeholder teams.As a PM for Uber's Platform, you will use your problem solving skills, quantitative abilities, customer focus, emotional intelligence, and collaborative spirit to innovate and offer an effective industry-leading storage-as-a-service solution. You have a desire to possess the best product skills and continuously improve by doing and learning. This is a highly visible role that works closely with the company's leadership team!## What the Candidate Will Do:- Own and drive Uber's storage-as-a service product roadmap, strategy, and execution by partnering closely with Uber's storage and data engineering leaders and team.- Define how our teams measure success, by developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and OKRs.- Partner with your customers namely Uber's engineering team to understand their problems, offer solutions and drive the adoption of those solutions.- Bring industry leading standard methodologies and thought leadership for production engineering to Uber.## Basic Qualifications:- 8+ years of experience as a Product Manager- M.S.
or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields- Excellent understanding of various storage architectures- Experience working on online data such as real-time streaming and / or offline batch data processing- Ability and experience in extracting insights from data, and summarizing learnings/takeaways- Experience working on storage architectures or running infrastructure at public cloud technologies is a plus.- Experience in use cases such as search is a plus.- Experience in and understanding distributed systems and in particular microservices architectures (Eg: Kubernetes, service meshes) is highly desirable**Preferred Qualifications:**- Strong storytelling: distill interesting and hard-to-find insights into a compelling, concise data story- Ability to communicate optimally and manage relationships with partners coming from both technical and non-technical backgrounds- Excellent judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills- Ability to define sophisticated business problems and articulate requirements that cross multiple product/project areas and teams- Athlete, who can learn technical skills quickly and be highly effective on several products based on a strong product management background.- Balance attention to detail with swift executionFor San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$203,000 per year - USD$225,500 per year.For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$203,000 per year - USD$225,500 per year.For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$203,000 per year - USD$225,500 per year.For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
