Job description

$10,000 sign on bonus!

 

This position, independently or in consultation with a physician, performs diagnostic testing, analysis, and other assigned duties within the sleep disorders department. As a Lead; conducts operation problem solving processes to ensure a uniform clinical outcome for the department. Assist the department by assuring that Joint Commission standards are met. Maintain high quality diagnostic skills/competency within their respective areas or responsibility. Position requires travel among MyMichigan Health Subsidiaries.


(10%)* Sets up and calibrates equipment before and after use.

(10%)* Assists with maintaining equipment and supplies.

(20%)* Sets-up equipment and performs testing and analysis as ordered by the physician. 

(20%)* Checks equipment in use on patient makes appropriate adjustments as needed.

(20%)* Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (Physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.

(20%)* Maintains proficiency as expert Sleep Tech at MyMichigan Health member locations.

 


OTHERDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

 

All HST setups and scoring of all HSTs Run all Daytime sleep studies (PSG/CPAP/MSLT/PAP Naps/etc.)

Report to Sleep Provider Clinics to perform Mask Fittings and troubleshoot issues with patients PAP Therapy Scoring of sleep studies on an as needed basis.

Monthly compliance and quality tracking for Clinic patients.

Performs chart auditing and participates in the quality assurance program.

Participation in staff meetings and provide education for the department, staff members in other departments as needed. 

Assists in orientation of new employees. 

Able to perform all duties of Sleep Technologist and may be assigned shifts as needed for coverage. 

Other duties as assigned. 


Education: High School Diploma Comments: or GED


RPSGT: Registered Polysmonographic Tech 

 

 


EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. An employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as trauma, grief and death.

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

Overall vision and hearing are necessary with or without assisted device(s).

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

 

Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21- 50lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
