Lead Pharmacy Benefits Navigator- Oklahoma Children's Hospital
Department:

Job Description:
General Description: Under the general direction of the clinical pharmacist and AVP of Clinical Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Benefits Navigator is responsible for overcoming all barriers to drug access for OU Health patients including prior authorization, copay assistance, facilitation of delivery. A Pharmacy Benefits Navigator is typically an experienced retail pharmacy technician who understands the need for a highly personalized service.

  • Place patient care at the utmost importance
  • Recruitment of patients into OU Health’s specialty pharmacy program
  • Work as a liaison between pharmacy, doctors office, and patient in order to expedite drug access
  • Provide medication adherence support
  • Appropriately escalate clinical issues to the clinical or specialty pharmacist
  • Build relationships with patients by providing friendly and efficient customer service
  • Apply cultural sensitivity and understanding with a wide range of patient populations
  • Acts as a lead to other Pharmacy Benefits Navigators including training, directing work, and providing input to performance management.
  • Provides primary training on onboarding of other Navigators.
  • Works with Specialty Manager to develop other Navigators.
  • Identifies and Drives metrics to improve Navigator performance.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for Navigator responsibilities.
  • Scheduling Navigators and coordinating coverage for all clinics Specialty Pharmacy supports.
  • Ensures consistency in performance in all clinics Specialty Pharmacy supports.
  • Interdepartmental communications.
General Responsibilities:
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School or GED
Experience: 5 years pharmacy experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Active permit as a Pharmacy Technician by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy required. National certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Highly detail oriented and well organized.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate clearly with pharmacy staff.
  • Ability to gather information needed to successfully submit a prior authorization to an insurance company
  • Ability to navigate copay assistance and grant funding availability to assist with drug affordability
  • Capacity to work independently and manage time well in order to complete necessary workload.
