The OSM Tooling Engineer will provide tool design & fixturing support for the Minneapolis Tool Center and OSM field service organization. Join an exciting team designing, building and repairing jigs and fixtures as well as providing on-site technical repair support in many different ways. - Interpret drawings, sketches, models, specifications, work sheets, and related documents.
Make standard and special jigs, fixtures, gages, tools, assemblies, etc.
Set up, program, and operate a variety of NC and Conventional machines such as engine and precision lathes, milling machines, drills, grinders, saws, jig borer, etc. - Manage process and product improvement projects via collaboration with appropriate technical and operations teams across the GE Vernova organization.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive cross-functional, collaborative resolution to quality and technical issues.
- Provide daily operator support in the form of CNC programming and troubleshooting supporting the MNTC tool center.
- Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements associated with portable machine tools.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while embracing and driving positive change inside and outside the organization when appropriate.
- Train less experienced programmers as needed, and be the administrator and custodian of software used within the group.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree OR Associates Degree plus 3 years of experience in CNC machining OR Apprentice Graduate in a machining related program plus 3 years of experience in CNC machining
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with a graphical based CAM software creating 3-axis CNC programs. Must have familiarity with both CAM software and offline CMM programming.
- Extensive experience in four or more of the following categories of machines or processes: Lathes, mills, operator controlled precision grinding, drills, heat treat or cutter grind with the ability to hold close tolerances (+ or - .001).

- Demonstrated proficiency with CAD/CAM software systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements and repair specifications.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills with above average shop math skills in trigonometry and geometry.
- Ability to drive innovation by implementing new ideas and screening new technologies to align with business objectives.
- Ability to effectively communicate to multiple levels of the organization, both verbally and through written communication.
