Summary
The Eye and Face Tracking Team is looking for an Optical Systems Engineer to lead the development and release of our next generation Eye and Face Tracking hardware for Meta products. You will work cross-functionally with algorithm, electrical, mechanical, display, optics, sensor, and other teams to ensure the performance and realization of optical products.Ideally you are experienced with leading product engineering process, including product definition, scoping, task management & prioritization, rollout and launch. You are good at making the right engineering tradeoffs in the context of a wider product or project goal. You are sought as a technical mentor, who makes the team more effective by bringing in best practices, identifying & removing bottlenecks, as well as avoiding common pitfalls. Other engineers and managers look to you for your experience and expertise in the product development process.

Required Skills
Lead Optical Systems Engineer, Eye and Face Tracking Responsibilities:
- Identify new concepts and system architectures to develop innovative processes that improve performance and system cost
- Distill product-level requirements to optical system design and requirements
- Work closely across the algorithm, optics, display, mechanical, and other cross-functional engineering teams to define, develop, realize, and simulate a variety of Optical Systems
- Work closely with the quality, test engineering, and technical operations teams to transition architected systems into mass production
- Perform requirement flowdown and budgeting to various subsystems
- Create and maintain engineering specifications
- Specify key performance indicators, test methods, and test requirements for components and systems
- Work closely with domestic and international vendors
- Up to 25% domestic and international travel
Minimum Qualification
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience
- Experience in at least one of the following: image quality evaluation, stray light molding and analysis, camera module or lens testing and characterization, imaging optics design and manufacturing, illumination optics design and manufacturing, display/backlight design and development, polarization, Visual Optics, or optical testing and metrology
- Demonstrated history of optical system engineering and cross-functional product development.
- Experience working with uncertainty and directing XFN teams to manage the risk portfolio at different stages of product development

- Advanced degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in eye tracking, computer vision algorithms, or similar technologies
- Experience with full life cycle product launches in consumer electronics
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment
