The Lead Ophthalmic Technician will facilitate the smooth and efficient processing of new and returning patients throughout testing and treatment procedures. Will strive to anticipate the needs of patients and Doctors. Will provide direction to other technicians to maximize patient flow. Will model pleasant, professional, and collaborative behavior and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Essential Functions:
- Greet patients in a pleasant and professional manner to ensure a positive experience.
- Obtain and/or update patient history in EHR chart
- Perform pre-exam testing including A/R, mini V/F, color VA's stereo vision, lensometer reading, VA's, pupil check, motility, IOP's and dilation
- Perform diagnostic testing including OCT, fundus and slit-lamp photos, VF
- Assist Doctors with minor procedures
- Train and support new technicians
- Communicate with other technicians to optimize efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
Auxiliary Functions:
- Open, stock, clean and close procedure, and exam rooms.
- Maintain inventory of medical and back-office supplies and provide order list to Clinic Manager
- Monitor proper cleaning of clinic equipment including slit lamp, indirect, lenses, instruments in the autoclave, etc.
- Direct patients with filled script to Optical Department
- Assist Doctors in satellite offices as needed
- Pull and fill patient charts
- Fax prescription refills and pre-authorization requests as needed
- Make patient appointment confirmation calls and perform recall tasks
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of clinic technician experience required.
Physical Requirements/Typical Working Conditions:
Environment: Primarily a temperature-controlled facility.
- Work may require prolonged standing, some bending, and stretching.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate clinical testing equipment, a keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
- Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to communicate in person, by phone, or over video.
- Requires occasional lifting papers or boxes up to 30 pounds.
Essential Physical Tasks:
- Sight - sufficient to read physical documents, and images on a computer monitor.
- Smell - sufficient to discern smoke/something burning, and other odors.
- Hear - sufficient to hold face to face/telephone/video call conversations, and to discern other ambient noises.
- Touch - sufficient to operate keyboard, mouse, other standard office equipment, and writing implements.
- Physical ability/strength - sufficient to lift, twist, turn, reach, climb, kneel, squat, sit, walk, stand, bend as needed throughout a standard shift.
Requirements
What you will bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.(Required)
- Minimum of one year of clinic technician experience. (Required)
- Must be willing to travel to sister-locations as needed for training purposes.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility within a team environment.
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) credential preferred.
- Knowledge of clinical testing equipment and proper testing procedures
- Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures to provide direction and ensure consistency within the team.
