The Virginia Eye Institute is hiring! VEI is a largeand dynamic practice of ophthalmologists and optometrists in the Richmond, VAarea, including eight locations and an ambulatory surgery center. We are searching for a Practice Coordinator.We are seeking a reliable candidate with outstandingpatient service skills.
The ideacandidate will be a team player, self-starter, friendly, motivated, organized, andhave a sense of urgency. A caring demeanor and the ability to build andmaintain patient rapport is critical.The candidate must be highly productive, eager to learn, and motivatedto succeed. This Practice Coordinator is a clinical associate who coordinators the day-to-dayactivities to assist the patient in the clinic.This position will assist with continuity of care by managingrelationships with providers, transitions, and referrals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist with daily process,overall functions and workflow within the clinicServes as key contact withAncillary departments as neededAssists patients via phone fortriage, voicemail, messages, pharmacy refills/prior authorizations, etc.Conducts follow-up phonereminders as well as other avenues (e.g., SMS, E-mail)Schedule follow-up, routine, newpatient appointments, bumped appointments as neededCollaborates with the SurgicalCoordinator as needed to ensure physician schedules are open and available andpatients are well educated on next steps.May fill in as the surgical coordinator as needed.Assist with rooming, patientwork-ups, vision screening, and/or scribingAssist with medication intake,storage, documentation as applicableAssist with prep of procedures,procedure tray, instruments, and cleaningProvide back-up oversight forstaffing needs and payroll Assists with projects and otherduties as requested or assignedREQUIREMENTS:Minimum education: HS diploma orequivalent; prefer Associates degree or some college education in business ormedical related field.Previous experience working in Ophthalmology or a medical practiceKnowledge of insurance companyproceduresStrong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to establishand maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, management, andco-workersAbility to work independentlyand in a team sitting while coordinating multiple assignmentsAbility maintain a high degreeof confidentialityDemonstrates attention to detailWeoffer a great work environment with competitive salary & benefits andcontinuing education and advancement programs.
