The Spa at The Cliffs is continuously growing and expanding! We are seeking a gracious, thoughtful, and motivated full-time Lead Massage Therapist who can create a sense of luxury with their treatments. The Spa at The Cliffs is open daily, 9:00am-8:00pm. We look forward to connecting with you!
Position Summary:
Lead Massage Therapist is responsible for performing massages on clients to improve circulation, promote relaxation, and relieve stress in a professional manner. This position is responsible for upholding California State Board Standards and overall cleanliness of treatment rooms and common areas. In addition, the Lead Massage Therapist position is responsible for training new Massage Therapists, upholding cleanliness and organizational standards in the spa and treatment rooms, and providing support to the Massage Therapists as the leader of the team. Lead Massage Therapist position works closely with Spa and Gift Shop Attendants, and Spa Manager.
Essential Functions of the job:
- Greet all guests with a welcoming, friendly attitude
- Provide guests with a professional consultation prior to service
- Perform professional 45,60,75, and 90-minute massage treatments including relaxing Swedish style, therapeutic, deep pressure, prenatal, and lomi lomi massages. Additional treatments include hand/foot scrubs, hand/foot paraffins, scalp treatments, and body treatments
- Ensure guests are properly and comfortably draped in a professional manner during treatment
- Attend and help facilitate meetings and trainings to learn current spa information and practice new techniques or treatments when necessary
- Creatively resolve guest requests and issues as necessary
- Communicate issues to management and collaboratively come up with solutions
- Maintain empathetic attitude to recover guests who have had a negative experience
- Maintain cleanliness in accordance to California State Board regulations in treatment room and common areas
- Demonstrate an attitude of friendly hospitality in every aspect of service
- Communicates pleasantly and courteously with guests, management and co-workers
- Thoroughly train newly hired Massage Therapists in daily duties (setup/cleanup), massage protocols, body treatment protocols, and enhancement protocols.
- Consistently upkeep organization of treatment rooms, including stocking and filling lotion/oil bottles
- Maintain organization in spa closets and notify management of low stock of any items
- Ensure that body treatment bins are organized with correctly products for each service
- Comply fully and consistently with all the hotel conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (4-8 hours)
- Ability to perform 3+ massages back to back
- Ability to repeat the same movements often
- Ability to use muscles for extended periods without getting tired
- Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Education, Experience, Skills:
- Massage Therapist Certification
- PBPD Massage Therapist Practitioner Permit, once hired
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service
- Ability to work weekends and holidays when necessary
- Ability to work consistent hours (minimum of 3 days per week)
- Ability to work 2-4 hours per week in addition to scheduled appointment shifts.
- Ability to step in when needed and attend quarterly meetings
- Ability to be sales oriented and able to communicate information regarding product and services to guest
- Ability to thoroughly train newly hired Massage Therapists
- Have a thorough knowledge of our products used in each service
- Stay up-to-date on California State Board requirements
- Maintain a friendly, outgoing attitude throughout all shifts
- Must be able to communicate and work effectively with co-workers in all departments
- Hospitality experience is preferred
- Luxury Spa experience is preferred
