Lead Maintenance Engineer - Fulfillment Center

Your Role

As a Maintenance Lead, you will use your skills to support the Operations Maintenance team in supervising, repairing, and maintaining material handling equipment and pneumatic systems throughout the building.  You will have the opportunity to lead, install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment.

What You'll Do

• Promote a safe working environment and lead by example following all safety procedures
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in day-to-day operations.
• Maintain and keep up with the maintenance inventory control program and report any parts or supplies needed. To the Maintenance Manager.
• Assist with the lock-out tag-out program.
• Assist with the Hot Work Permit program.
• Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all Material Handling Equipment (MHE) which includes belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and plumbing as it relates to the building, additional duties as assigned to support Operations and facility
• Maintain a positive working relationship across all the Operations facility
• Track and store department inventory
• Move up to 50lbs with regular bending, lifting, and reaching both below the waist and above the head along with pushing and pulling wheeled dollies up to 100 pounds, during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodations
• Lead multiple shifts in proper maintenance of MHE and building systems.
• Inspects facilities, systems, and their components to identify necessary repairs.
• Oversees maintenance and custodial personnel as assigned to maximize the efficiency of the workforce and meet shift requirements.
• Working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; and monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.

What You Bring

• 2 years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls
• 2 years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
• 2 years of experience in the repair of material-handling equipment
• Ability to work in distribution environments that may be noisy and potentially work on rooftop equipment in extreme temperatures
• 1 years of blueprint and electrical schematic reading
• 1 years of knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
• Able to work with others as well as independently and be a self-starter
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload
• Understanding and knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) information
• Background or experience in conveyor operation and repair

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
• Experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Safety standards
• Project Management experience
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Able to troubleshoot basic input and output functions
• Basic HVAC knowledge is a plus

• Must have the ability to reach arms above head, kneel, squat, climb steps/ladders, and frequently lift a maximum of 50 lbs. of equipment
• Ability to perform tasks wearing a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots/shoes
• Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
• Involves movement between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work including walking 6 to 12 miles per day
• Work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
• Regularly required to type on a computer or stand-up desk and for 1-2 hours per day
