Responsibility:

The Lead Janitorial Environmental Services Technician (JES) is responsible for leading the daily JES workflow to ensure the on-going cleanliness of all CSMM buildings, vehicles, and grounds.

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to lead and participate in the execution of daily JES duties. This role ensures that all Cherry Street Mission Ministries (CSMM) property is maintained in a safe, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing manner.

All staff members at Cherry Street perform their job duties in the context of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our express purpose to minister to individuals (i.e.,staff, volunteers, donors, guests) through the practical discipleship steps of eliminating poverties of spirit, soul, and body.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform, train, & lead others in daily janitorial tasks, groundskeeping, and the organization and restocking of supplies
  • Perform, train, & lead others in all pest control measures
  • Perform, train, & lead JES process for dorm cleanliness and bin compliance
  • Perform, train, & lead in the transportation of meals, goods, and people
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate & train all necessary tools and equipment
  • Demonstrates flexibility with daily work assignments and assigned tasks
  • Participate in the on-going training of all EVS tasks, systems, processes
  • Ensure proper reporting measures for building maintenance
  • Identifies and utilizes appropriate resources to ensure problems or concerns are followed through and resolved in a timely manner
  • Assist Operations Managers with keeping all safety systems up to date
  • Oversee on-going EVS QA/QC
  • Identify and assist with creating and maintaining all EVS policies and procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring new hire checklist completion
  • Collaborate with Operations Managers and Volunteers Coordinator to lead on-going volunteer projects
  • Oversee all guests volunteering within the EVS department
  • Oversee all EVS calendars
  • Administrate the JES workorder system
  • Administrate and participate in the JES on-call system and respond to after-hours emergencies when required
  • Other duties as assigned

*Essential Functions may be revised upon management discretion

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of assistant managerial, managerial, and/or lead experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Attentive to detail, with the ability to follow written and verbal instruction and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong professional demeanor
  • Experience working in an environment that serves a culturally diverse adult population
  • Demonstrates ability to forge effective relationships with staff, guests, and volunteers
  • Must have the ability to remain calm in crisis situations
  • Proven ability to handle a multitude of tasks and prioritize by level of need
  • Ability to take initiative and self-driven to complete goals and tasks
  • Must have high regard for building cleanliness
  • A basic knowledge Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Licenses, Certificates, and Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • CPR training preferred
  • Narcan training preferred

Lifting Requirements

  • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
