About us
IdentifySensors Biologics is a nano-bio-tech company bringing to market "next-generation" digital diagnostic platform called Check4 based on "solid-state" electronic biosensors.
Position Summary
As the Lead Ink Formulation Chemist, you will lead research, development and commercialization of conductive printable inks. Your role involves synthesizing nano-materials and optimizing dispersions for consistent performance of screen-printable inks with specific electrical, mechanical, and physical properties used for biosensor applications.
Position Responsibilities
Ink Formulation and Development:
- Design and develop screen-printable conductive inks by combining conductive nanomaterials (e.g., graphene, carbon nanotubes, silver nanoparticles) with polymer binders, solvents, and additives.
- Optimize Ink Formulations to achieve the desired fictionalization, conductivity, adhesion, and printability for target applications.
Nanomaterial Synthesis and Modification:
- Synthesize, functionalize, and modify nanomaterials to enhance their compatibility with polymer matrices and improve their dispersion within the Ink Formulations.
- Conduct surface treatments or chemical modifications to tailor the properties of nanomaterials for specific ink applications.
Material Characterization:
- Utilize various characterization techniques, including spectroscopy (UV-Vis, IR, XPS, Raman, FTIR, EDS, EDX etc...) microscopy (SEM, TEM, AFM, Confocal, FRET etc...) and rheology (Newtonian, Non-Newtonian, Shear-Thinning, Thixotropy etc...) , to analyze the properties, performance, stability and shelf-life of conductive inks.
- Ensure quality control and consistency of ink properties through comprehensive testing (Rheological, Printability, Electrical, Chemical Stability, Environmental Exposure, Adhesion etc...).
Research and Innovation:
- Stay updated on advancements in nanomaterials, polymer chemistry, and conductive ink technologies to drive innovation.
- Investigate novel materials and processes to enhance the performance and capabilities of printable (screen, ink-jet, aerosol, spin coating, slot-die, grauvere etc...) conductive inks.
Process Scaling:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to scale up ink production processes from laboratory to industrial scales while maintaining quality and cost-efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance to optimize manufacturing processes.
Position Qualifications
- A Ph.D. or master's degree in polymer chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field with a focus on polymers, nanomaterials or conductive inks.
- Extensive industry experience (15+ years) in polymer synthesis, nanomaterials, and Ink Formulation.
- Experience (15+ years) in measuring Rheology/viscosity, particle size, zeta potential, surface tension and contact angle.
- High proficiency in characterizing materials using advanced spectroscopy and microscopy analytical techniques (XPS, Raman, FTIR, EDS, SEM, AFM, TEM etc...)
- Extensive experience (15+ years) with laboratory equipment and techniques relevant to nanomaterials, polymers and conductive inks.
Position Skills
- Ink formulation, particle engineering and particle dispersion.
