Chevron believes the future of energy is lower carbon, and is committed to providing affordable, reliable, ever-cleaner energy that enables human progress and delivers superior stockholder value in any business environment. The Air & GHG Team within the Oil, Products and Gas (OPG) Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) organization plays a critical role, in partnership with Chevron’s Sustainability group, business units (BUs), and other groups within Chevron, in positioning Chevron as a leader in complying with emerging GHG/methane regulations and tracking our progress toward our lower carbon goals. This position will be responsible for taking the lead in helping Chevron’s North American Upstream BUs comply with a new methane regulation and providing technical support to the CSS Methane Reduction Team in developing Chevron’s methane quantification approach. Other responsibilities may include leading Chevron’s GHG Peer Assist Program and providing technical support to Chevron’s carbon intensity forecasting efforts. This is an opportunity to directly impact Chevron’s journey towards a lower carbon future.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead a newly formed Business Improvement Network (BIN) for OOOOb/c, the recently finalized U.S. Upstream ‘methane rule.' Enable environmental staff with Chevron’s North American Upstream BUs to gain full awareness of the regulation, complete compliance gap assessments, and create a path to implementation and compliance that is consistent across BUs. Research rule language, engage relevant experts, flag key topics for discussion, lead the group to resolution, and provide summarized interpretations and requirements for the team. Develop and streamline compliance tracking tools, and identify digital recordkeeping and reporting needs.
  • Lead support to Chevron’s Sustainability group on developing Chevron’s methane quantification approach, where this may include technical assistance in piloting different approaches to reconciling/augmenting Chevron’s corporate GHG inventory with direct methane measurement data.
  • Lead Chevron’s GHG Peer Assist Program to continue to further improve the integrity of Chevron’s GHG data through directly partnering with select operated and non-operated joint venture assets.
  • Support development and delivery of guidance and training on carbon intensity forecasting, and quality reviews of business unit-level carbon intensity forecasts, as part of annual business planning process led by OPG’s Strategy group. Also assist in development of carbon intensity forecasts for select business units.
  • Consult and partner with others to develop standard guidance and tools for estimating GHG emissions/reductions for capital projects and carbon reduction/marginal abatement cost curve (MACC) projects.
  • Support marginal abatement cost (MAC) analyses covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions for Chevron’s operations.
Qualifications:
  • BS in civil, chemical or environmental engineering, or environmental science required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience working in GHG/methane emissions mitigation and/or accounting within the oil and gas industry strongly preferred.
  • Postgraduate degree in engineering is highly desirable.
Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
