Position Description:
The Food Service Lead will receive directives from the Dean of Operations and Director and Associate Director of Nutrition Program, and includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Prepare for meal service that will take place (as students enter/exit building, classrooms, or cafeteria)
- Serve students and ensure plates meet the requirements of a compliant meal.
- Responsible for accurate point of sale records and method for serving student meals.
- Establish a relationship with kitchen staff at vendor where the lunches are prepared and sent to school each day.
- Obtains meal counts from teachers and places daily order with cooking kitchen by 9 AM
- Order weekly meal, milk, and produce orders on time and adjust as needed to minimize waste.
- Lead Food Service staff by example and train staff members as needed.
- Clean, wash and sanitize general kitchen area, dishes, pots and pans, equipment, and storeroom.
- Store and stock all supplies on shelves, coolers, and freezers.
- Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean orderly condition.
- Abide by all city and county health department regulations.
- Apply all DPI and USDA regulations and guidelines, completing appropriate reports and records.
- Attend workshops and professional development sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience working in a school kitchen that participated in the National School Lunch Program a plus
- Deep belief in all children and the mission of Seton Catholic Schools.
- Basic computer skills
- Has a Food Manager Certificate or must be able to take Food Manager class and pass the exam within 3 months of hiring.
- Prior leadership experience a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
- Able to collaborate and work in a team atmosphere.
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Ability to move, lift, and transfer objects weighing up to 50 fifty (50) pounds.
