Summary / Role Purpose

The Lead Financial Analyst will be a key contributor on a team that leads all facets of the annual financial budget, recurring forecasts, and the long-range financial plan.

 

This role leads the monthly expense forecasting process, utilizing insights from business unit FP&A teams and managing key assumptions including attrition rates, headcount pace of fill and related expenses. The Lead analyst will partner with Finance teams to identify trends, uncover reporting discrepancies, and collaborate with a diverse group of business partners on system-wide improvements.

 

The Lead Financial Analyst will participate in the preparation of consolidated financials aligned with monthly and quarterly forecasting and financial close cycles. They will also assist in the development of executive briefing materials with concise analyses of variances to forecast, plan, prior period, and prior-year results.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly expense forecast process-host monthly reviews with FP&A team, investigate key expense drivers and focus on process improvements that increase consistency and actionable financial insights.
  • Assist with consolidation of key monthly and quarterly expense forecasting and management reporting - analyzing financial results and distilling trends.
  • Support annual operating expense budgeting efforts by interfacing with FP&A/Accounting teams through scenario and capacity modeling.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support internal decision making for a variety of business initiatives.
  • Drive analysis that delivers insight and recommendations to our executive leadership team for strategic and operational planning decisions.
  • Lead continued development of budgeting, forecasting, planning, and modeling tools focusing on automation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or quantitative discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in FP&A, Business Operations, or Data Analytics.
  • Systems experience such as Planning Systems (Hyperion/Oracle EPM Planning), Oracle Financials, or Power BI.
  • Self-starter willing to take initiative to learn new systems/skills and automate processes for increased efficiency.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and recommended actions to all levels of the organization, using negotiation, persuasion, and discretion to accomplish objectives and deliver results.
  • Must be able to work independently after taking directions and be proactive in asking questions.
  • Demonstrated excellence in business analytics and tools, including Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced Excel skills are vital.
  • Comfortable dealing with various financial/reporting tools and have a good understanding of financial processes including P&L operation, cashflow dynamics and general revenue recognition.

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional qualifications such as MBA, CPA, CMA, or CFA is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship development, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion in a complex, deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to manage sudden ad hoc requests outside of typical timelines.
  • Ability to ramp-up quickly in the work materials through deliberate learning efforts, with managerial support.
  • Must be able to think intuitively to resolve data and process challenges as they arise, stretching beyond typical mechanical processes.
