Lead Fabircator / Shop Manager For Custom Cabinet Shop
Overview:
Hurst Construction is a top custom home builder and remodeler in the Kansas City area. The custom cabinet + mill shop specifically supports building projects contracted through the company . The Lead Fabricator is an integral part of providing exceptionally well crafted cabinets, mill work + trim components and other custom projects for our clients. We are looking for someone to fabricate and manage our custom shop who is creative and passionate about woodwork and cabinet making.
Hurst Construction is looking to grow this side of the business to gain more control over the quality and consistency of our product and to better serve our clients. The longer term vision is to be able to offer custom cabinetry and mill shop services to other contractors and designer in the KC area. We are looking for a self motivated individual who can help us bring this vision to life.

Position Requirements & Duties:
- Minimum of 3 years of carpentry and manufacturing experience in woodworking / furniture making / cabinet making.
- Focus on quality of work is a main requirement followed by efficiency of production.
- Ability to read and understand Architectural and shop drawings. ( ability to create shop drawings is a major bonus)
- Plan projects in alignment with the drawings.
- Provide estimates to the sales team based on material and labor required.
- Knowledge of & competency with all common shop tools - Panel saw, table saw, planers , wide belt sander, sharpers, joiners and all hand tools.
- Ability to provide standard maintenance of all shop tools.
- Solid understanding of euro-style, full overlay cabinet construction.
- Build and assemble custom cabinet pieces, trim components , paneling , door frames, table tops, and other custom pieces to a very high level of quality.
- Be able to install cabinet pieces when required.
- Track time on budget for each project.
- Manage hardware and materials inventory.
- Must be able to drive a large box truck.
- Manage deliveries and ensure all items are accounted for and fulfilled.
- Receive incoming shipments and record in inventory.
- Have basic knowledge of finishing process and coordinate job with the finisher. (Actual skill with finishing is a Major Plus)
- Provide training and mentor ship to incoming assistant fabricators.
