Job Description
Under the direct supervision of a physician, performs echocardiography procedures according to HHC’s philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures. Assures the effective daily operation of the department.Leads the assigned cardiology practices in such tasks as quality and safety, education, maintenance and accreditation.
- Leads effective daily operation of the Echocardiology Department ensuring that patient exams and physician requests are met in a timely and efficient manner.
- Participates in the activities required to maintain departmental ICAEL certification assuming the role of Technical Director and the formulation of continuous quality and performance improvement plans, updated department procedures, physician and staff information, and competencies.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems as necessary, reporting unresolved issues to appropriate staff.
- Maintains adequate Echo department inventory including office and exam supplies, linen.
- Performs echocardiography examinations according to departmental procedures including transthoracic, transesophageal, and pharmacological/exercise stress studies as required for age-specific populations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Echocardiography program
Experience:
- Five years’ experience in Echocardiography
- Previous lead/supervisory experience preferred
Licensure:
- Board certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required.
- State of CT Echocardiographer License
- CPR for Healthcare providers
