GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Out N About program is a community inclusion program for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The program provides social, enrichment, and recreational opportunities for the individuals enrolled in the program. The Direct Support Professional Lead shall assist participants in the ONA program in participating in activities planned within the community, promoting socialization, and assisting the individual(s) with working on their independence. The Direct Support Professional Lead shall provide support and guidance to Direct Support Professionals and ensure participants are cared for under the best practices and support options. The Direct Support Professional Lead will work with the Adult Recreation Program Coordinator to plan activities/events monthly, ensure the program runs smoothly, and will be responsible for all necessary paperwork for all activities/events.
Out N About programming occurs on Saturdays and requires in-person staff attendance. Saturday event hours vary but typically take place between the timeframe of 10AM 3PM. Virtual opportunities may also be available throughout the week. Hour availability will vary based on scheduled events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must work a 3 in-person events per month that occur on the weekend
- Is attentive, flexible, and supportive of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and their families
- Maintain regular communication with the Adult Recreation Program Coordinatorvia agency email
- Collaborate with the Adult Recreation ProgramCoordinator to develop appropriate program activities that align with participant goals
- Is technologically proficient and able to use company implemented platforms to ensure successful programming and documentation
- Oversee scheduled events/activities, provide proper supervision of staff, and establish appropriate staffing ratios
- Ensure that all work is carried out in a manner that is both respectful and empowering to families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Encourage and model appropriate social behaviors and interactions
- Lead and facilitate program activities and coordinate supplies when applicable
- Responsible for maintaining the comfort, health, safety, and well-being of participants during program events and intervening when necessary
- Provide hands on care, assistance, and supervision to participants in program activities and events
- Demonstrate a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
- Submit all program documentation by specific deadlines, including attendance sheets, timesheets, progress notes, debit card reconciliation and receipts, etc.
- When necessary, will be required to drive clients to and from a planned activity in rental cars reserved by the Family Support Coordinator
- Contact the Adult Recreation Program Coordinatorat least 48 hours prior to a scheduled event/activity if unable to attend
- Attend quarterly DSP/program meetings and other agency events as required
- Follows mandatory reporting procedures according to FRN and state protocols
