Description

StarCare Specialty Health System is in search of compassionate, experienced individuals to serve as Lead Direct Support Professionalsin a residential setting suporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

 

Lead Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

  • Embody and protect the human rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabiltiies.
  • Practice person-centered planning which actively supports people's full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetime.
  • Ensures back-up staffing on the home.
  • Completes administrative functions involving appointments, routing of consultation notes, and purchasing of groceries and household items.
  • Schedules housekeeping tasks and ensures completion by each shift in accordance with cleaning schedules,

 

Schedule: Full-time positions. Variable shifts - rotates as needed.

 

Pay Incentive Program

  • $500 - Upon Completion of First 30 Days
  • $500 - Upon Completion of Six Months
  • $1,000 - Upon Completion of One Year 
  • $2,000 - Upon Completion of Two Years

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred. However, three (3) years of Direct Support Professional experience and successful completion of a proficiency assessment will qualify.

 

Additional Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, behavioral health and/or medical needs, is preferred.
  • Must have essential physical ability/skills (run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, and be able to lift at least 50 pounds or 1/4 of body weight) and be able to push and pull against potential resistance.
  • Must be able to implement non-physical and physical interventions and CPR with people supported when needed.
  • Must have adequate vision, reading, writing and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to perform essential functions of the job.
  • Must be able to provide assistance, as needed, in safely loading and unloading vehicle passengers and assist individuals to safety in emergency situations.
  • Must have a current Texas driver's license and be insurable under the organization's insurance.
  • Must pass a pre-hire criminal background check and drug screen.
