We're a family-owned and operated business, with 5 locations nationwide. We also have 4 in-house shops nationwide where we maintain our own fleet of diesel tractors and car-hauling trailers.
The Role:
Lead Diesel Technician - 2nd ShiftLead Diesel Mechanic at Luxury Auto Transport Company.
Shift: 
  • 2nd Shift (3:00 pm - 12:30 am).
  • Full-time - 45 hours/week.

Role Description:
This person would be responsible for overseeing the second shift at our in-house shop in Canton, MI to keep up our level of commitment to safety, customer service, and fleet performance. Reliable Carriers maintain our fleet of equipment in-house, including our diesel tractors and custom car-hauling trailers. Tractors in our fleet include Peterbilt, Freightliner, Western Star, Volvo, and Kenworth. Trailers are majority enclosed, and designed for car hauling.

What you'll do:
  • Manage the second shift of technicians while prioritizing work accordingly.
  • Perform truck repair and maintenance work on our fleet of diesel tractors and car-hauling trailers in accordance with factory and industry standards.
  • Oversee & manage PM's on equipment as needed on a scheduled basis.
  • Manage repairs & work orders. 
  • Communicate timeframes, expectations and issues to our drivers, shop managers and leadership team.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, powertrain, electrical, and lighting systems.
  • Consistently look for and identify equipment issues on tractors and trailers that could cause a safety issue or equipment failure, ultimately causing downtime with the unit.
  • Focused on time units and getting routine maintenance done within the allotted time frame.
  • Maintain tractors and trailers to Reliable Carriers and Federal CSA standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.

Experience:
  • Prior leadership/journeyman experience in diesel truck repair, heavy-duty maintenance, or similar experience.
  • 4+ years of relatable work experience.
  • Industry technical certifications are a plus.
  • SAE or state certification is a plus, but not required.
  • A degree in Diesel Technology is a plus. 
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Leadership ability, able to work & manage a team in a very fast-paced environment with high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to effectively deal with both drivers and the shop team in a diplomatic way.
  • Must be willing to learn and help drive new efficiencies in the process.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license and the legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass an initial background, drug test and pre-hire physical screening.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Must have basic hand tools and toolbox or mobile cabinet.

Compensation:
  • Full-time position: 45 hours/week.
  • Earnings based on experience 
  • Shift Premium: Earn $1/hour additional for second shift hours!
  • Weekly settlements via direct deposit.
  • Overtime is available at a 1.5x hourly rate.

Bonus Pay:
  • Sign-on Bonus: $2,500 (paid out in 3-payments every 90 days).
  • Annual profit-sharing program based on company performance.
  • Last year all employees that worked at the company for 1+ years received a bonus of approx. $5000.
