As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the data science team and support the development of state of the art machine learning solutions that enhance the efficiency of clinical documentation. As the Lead Data Engineer, you will own all Data Engineering aspects crucial to supporting the data science team. This will includes designing and implementation of a comprehensive system that incorporates scheduling and monitoring data pipelines, feature stores, artifact management and basic CI/CD functionality. In this role, collaboration with MCG's data platform team is key, as they provide essential infrastructure (data lake, storage, orchestration, compute) and data resources for your team's endeavors.

You will:

  • Convert legacy pipelines and ad hoc jobs into organized, monitored, and sustainable Flyte pipelines
  • Build and curate pipeline templates for common jobs
  • Design and lead implementation of feature and label stores
  • Manage and Lead Data Engineers (assign work, provide design direction, perform code reviews)
  • Provide templates, documentation, and best practices for self-serve Data Engineering by data scientists and machine learning engineers
  • Serve as the team's expert on CI/CD and artifact management

What We're Looking For:

  • Expert SQL and Python knowledge
  • Ability to write robust, clean, extensible code
  • Extensive experience writing your own tests and designing clean data pipelines using an orchestrator
  • Proficiency in data lakes and warehouses (reading, writing, basic schema and maintenance)
  • Strong collaboration skills, incorporating and effectively incorporating feedback from stakeholders
  • Technical leadership capabilities, setting best practices and providing constructive feedback
  • Proficient with containerization and Docker
  • Reasonable knowledge of CI/CD best practices
  • Experience with Go
  • Experience using Kubernetes as a developer (deploying to K8s, no managing a cluster)

Anticipated Pay Range: $147,500 – $206,500
