Job description

This is a Lead Conciliation Specialist position in the Department of Justice, Community Relations Service (CRS). CRS' mission is to provide tension reduction and conflict resolution services to diverse stakeholders to both resolve and prevent community-level disputes. This job allows telework in accordance with agency policy. The selected applicant will report to their assigned CRS worksite when not teleworking, attending local meetings/events, or on travel.Qualifications: To qualify for the position of Lead Conciliation Specialist, (GS-0101-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current federal employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).

Basic Requirements

Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

or

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
TRANSCRIPTS are required to verify satisfactory completion of the educational requirement listed above.


SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of complexity and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade in the federal service. To qualify at the GS-14 grade, your resume must show experience in at least two of the following:
1. Delivering Facilitated dialogue and consultation services to community groups experiencing conflict or tension. Examples include tensions relating to police-community relations; tensions or hate incidents related to race, color, or national origin; or hate incidents related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or disability status.
2. Assisting Community groups with developing and implementing plans to reduce or resolve tension, conflict, or prevent or respond to actual (or perceived) hate crimes.
3. Conducting mediation between parties when conflict or tension related to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability status arises in a community.
