Job description

The Lead Cloud Engineer must be able to meet the key criteria below:
  1. Location: 100% Remote
  2. Years' Experience: 10+ years experience
  3. Education: Bachelor in IT related field
  4. Security Clearance: IBR is a federal contractor. Applicants must be able to meet the requirements to obtain up to a Top-Secret security clearance. NOTE: US Citizenship is required to be eligible to obtain a TS security clearance
  5. Work Authorization: Must show that applicant is legally permitted to work in the United States.
  6. Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2
  7. Key Skills:
    • Proven hands-on experience in installing, configuring, operating, and monitoring CI/CD pipeline tools such as Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, CloudWatch, Ansible, and other CI/CD technologies
    • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud deployment technologies
    • Strong knowledge of Linux Operating systems and scripting tools such as Python, Bash, Powershell, etc.
    • Experience migrating applications from on-premises to AWS.
    • AWS CloudFormation, Ansible, and/or Terraform infrastructure-as-code experience.
    • Current AWS Solution Architect associate related certification required.
    • Must be willing to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification.

Overview
As a Cloud Engineer at IBR, you will support the Agile based engineering of a robust, secure, and scalable enterprise solutions supporting over one million users hosted in AWS. You will work with multiple application teams to migrate systems into AWS GovCloud. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS cloud services, hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code, and deep knowledge of cloud security best practices.
Responsibilities
  • Provides technical guidance to application teams to take advantage of cloud technologies, and implement cloud infrastructure, as needed.
  • Supports the design and implementation of AWS cloud architectures for applications.
  • Develops and maintains infrastructure-as-code templates using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Ensures compliance with security requirements by implementing and managing security controls and policies within the cloud environment.
  • Works with application teams to document application internal/external interface requirements for Development, Testing, Staging and Production environments
  • Works with application teams to ensure compliance with High Availability and Disaster Recovery related concept of operations.
  • Implements middleware application specific requirements as needed
  • Implements migration efforts with application teams, including data migration.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance
  • AWS Solution Architect Associate certification required
  • Experience designing and building web application environments on AWS including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, ELB, ECS, EKS etc.
  • Experience with CI/CD frameworks (ie. Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Experience in at least one automation and scripting tool experience (ie. Bash, Python, Shell, Perl)
  • Experience in deploying of the cloud resources using IaC tools like Terraform.
  • Experience in designing and building of CIFS and NFS on-premises File share migration using AWS Datasync and VPC endpoints to AWS storage services S3, EFS or FSx.
  • Experience in creating build plans for AWS deployment by listing out compute resources, Security groups, LB, target group, NACL and all other components for various environments (Dev, TQA, and Prod etc.)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Cloud Watch, App Dynamics and Splunk. Create CloudWatch rules to capture the apps alerts and send notifications
  • Previous experience migrating application teams from on-prem to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure)
  • Ability to automate workflows through scripting or other technologies such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Experience determining and implementing middleware requirements a bonus
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT management, administration, applications and system development lifecycles within a substantial IT environment.
  • Familiar with RDS databases (Oracle, SQL, and/or Postgres)

Physical Demands
Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily indoors in a well-lit office environment. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances. Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
